Engram Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 8, 2026

Engram (“the extension”) helps you clip the current webpage (or selected text) into a Markdown note saved to a folder you choose (for example, an Obsidian vault). This privacy policy explains what data the extension handles and how it is used.

Data the extension handles

Website content

Web history (current page only)

Extension settings and local state

The extension stores some data locally to function:

AI (Gemini Nano) summaries

If you enable AI features and your browser supports it, the extension can generate a summary using Chrome’s built-in on-device Gemini Nano / Prompt API. The text you clip may be provided to the on-device model locally in your browser to generate a summary that can be included in your note.

The extension does not send your clipped content to an external AI service.

What the extension does NOT do

Data sharing

The extension does not share your data with third parties.

Note: The extension UI may load fonts from Google Fonts. If that happens, your browser may make a request to Google’s servers to download the font files, which may expose standard request metadata (such as your IP address) to that provider. This is unrelated to clipping and does not include your clipped page content.

Data retention

Security

The extension stores data locally in your browser and writes notes only to the folder you explicitly select.
